After a Long Break...

Without beating around the bush, let me summarize: I haven't kept a blog for almost 10 years. Of course I took lots of notes for myself, but I never published them.

For a while I've been trying to prepare so I can write and, moreover, share some things. It's still early to say I've managed something, but first I took down the old site that had been live for seven years without any updates and set up this simple useless minimalist one.

    An unnecessary heading

Setting up the site was the easy part; I've done it countless times before and still never kept up a blog. So instead of writing anything meaningful I opened this heading just to write something, and I'll come back to it a few more times to make some additions. For a while, this will be the only thing on the home page.

    Things written in the past

On the other hand, I have some blogs from 2011 and earlier, even from before 2007, but I couldn't preserve them, I lost them. I think when I launched my first website and wrote my blog it was 2001, but unfortunately nothing survived from those.

For now these are what I have, even some written on paper and digitally on my computer, even older. Maybe I'll publish them sometime.

But instead of removing or highlighting the content that's live here but old, I categorized them in the archive so they're accessible. If you're a bit curious you can take a look, but don't expect much; some have expired and are nonsense, yet some are still personal and meaningful to me.

What might I write from now on

    Some topics have come to mind for now, I'm just jotting them down. I'm thinking out loud. Maybe I can write about whatever helps me in my work environment or digital life and makes my life easier. I don't know. We'll see over time. Let me note them here anyway;

    • How do I make use of the profile feature in the Chrome browser?
    • How have I made reinstalling my computer more practical?
    • What do I do to ensure my digital security? Am I secure?
    • How did my sleep, exercise and nutrition routines contribute to my personal and professional life?
    • A long and winding road on learning habits and learning how to learn.

These titles are the first ones that came to mind because they're often the issues I face and the questions I get asked, so they tend to be topics I frequently explain. Instead of explaining, I'll just write them down somewhere so maybe they'll randomly help someone.

    Will I only write?

I don't know either, but with this post I feel like writing more of what comes to mind without worrying too much about what people will think. It's another story to scrutinize everything, but I want to write without a general sense of shyness. For that I might try to be a bit more active on social media, especially Twitter. Don't forget to follow me on twitter. If you don't like it, unfollow, mute, block. You don't have to follow.

It's not about writing, it's about telling!

Anyway, returning to the previous subheading, it's about writing of course; for me the most practical way of telling something in its own right is writing. It's an irony for someone who hasn't kept a blog for ten years, but writing isn't just keeping a blog. In our private and especially professional lives we write so many things while preparing documents, making presentations, writing reports, sending messages/emails in non-public and company-specific spaces—we're constantly writing.

In short, I love the nature of writing; at its core it aims to tell something. While telling, I'll strive to use whatever eases and supports the narration. And this time I'll make an effort not only to write but also to share what I write.
